When you approach the Icerink in the evening, you can’t miss the impression that the building glows like a piece of ice.The white façade made of slanted aluminum panels evokes the crystalline structure of frost, and thanks to LED lighting, the stadium changes its mood—from cool blue to warm festive red.

The architects behind this exceptional building are Vrtiška & Žák in collaboration with Atelier A+B. Their goal was to create a temple of sport—literally. The entrance foyer rises across two floors and feels almost monumental. Exposed concrete, visible ducts, and a raw industrial style give the arena an air of modern technical elegance.

And the result? The “Building of the Year 2018” award and recognition from architects and athletes alike. But most importantly—a sports venue that is not only functional but inspiring.

Icerink is not just a sports hall. It’s a place where ice becomes a stage for the beauty of movement.Since its opening in 2018, it has been inseparably connected with figure skating champion Tomáš Verner, who established his Tomáš Verner Academy (ATV) here.

Under his guidance, new skaters grow up here—children, juniors, and adults alike. The stadium offers ideal conditions for both individual and group training at a professional level. The ice is perfectly maintained, the lighting is top-notch, and the facilities meet international standards.

Competitive training, beginner courses, adult lessons, and workshops with guest coaches—all of this takes place right here. The atmosphere is focused, calm, and welcoming—just the way figure skating needs it to be.

In addition to club activities, Škoda Icerink also offers regular public skating sessions several times a week. There’s skate rental and sharpening available, so even without your own equipment, you’re not lost.

Especially in winter, these public hours are popular with school groups, families, and recreational skaters who want to enjoy high-quality ice regardless of the weather. Evening skating with music and colorful lighting is a beloved experience—a simple way to brighten a weekday.

Although Icerink is an architectural gem, it’s not a stadium for mass events or crowds of spectators. The facilities are functional, not commercial. Most spectators are parents of figure skaters or hockey players who bring their children here regularly for training.

Unlike some arenas, you won’t find a bustling shopping mall, arcades, or children’s play areas here. Icerink feels calm and focused—a place where sport takes center stage, and every centimeter of the building is designed with one purpose: to create the best possible training environment.

Škoda Icerink was built entirely without state funding. It was developed by the company PADOK as a private project with a clear goal—to support sports infrastructure in Prague and create a training center of European quality.

Although it’s not in the city center and isn’t accessible like a café in a park, this icy temple has a strong charm. Visitors come here with a purpose—to progress, to learn something, or to lose themselves for a moment in the quiet glide across the smooth surface of the ice.
