In May 2025, a special training camp focusing on ice dance couples took place at the Icerink in Prague. The camp was led by the experienced Italian coach Maurizio Margaglio, who is currently working as a coach for the Finnish national ice dance program. The event was attended not only by couples from the Tomas Verner Academy, but also by ice dance couples from various figure skating clubs across the Czech Republic. The camp provided a unique opportunity to gain knowledge from an expert with international experience and insight into the work of national teams.
The program focused on technical precision in step sequences, partner coordination, sensitive leading, and working with musical rhythm. Emphasis was placed on connecting movement with music, expression, grace, and the ability to convey emotions on the ice. The dance couples had the chance to refine their choreographies, better understand partnership work, and learn to perceive music as an integral part of their performance.
The camp also aimed to enhance musicality and encourage the natural temperament that is inseparable from ice dance. The participants left enriched with new knowledge, inspiration, and motivation for further development.
The Tomas Verner Academy extends its thanks to Maurizio Margaglio for his dedicated guidance, for sharing valuable professional advice, and for passing on positive thinking and motivation for the new season. Our thanks also go to all participants, coaches, and parents for their cooperation and for creating a wonderful atmosphere throughout the camp.
